rear hubs 5 stud tranny

Can anyone tell me, on the rear of my van, are the hubs and the halfshaft separate items or are the two permanently joined never to come apart? Want some machining doing on the hubs and apparently having the halfshaft still attached will make the setting up difficult

Yup, seperate items.

I find the best way to split them is.........

Hold a large flat bladed screwdriver against the split line between the hub and the shaft and apply a twisting pressure, as if your trying to prize them apart.

With that pressure in plate, smack the dead center of the ½ shaft with a decent sized hammer.

The shaft should bounce away from the hub flange

are you sure you can get six stud on the back these are mine after machining 5 x 112mm
you might be ok with your axle i think the design is slightly different!! but this is on a mk2!!
have you considered adapters

re-drill on the front - adapters on the rear i doubt you could re-drill to fit 139x6 on the back of my mk2 axle - it would have to be adapters! let us know how you get on!!

ps - adapters are cheaper!
