Thanks for helping me out with the water trap on my old mans van guys,Will have another look tomorrow,he took it out for a short run to get some diesel and he now reports it is a bit smokey not billowing out mind.He thought it may have something to do with the water trap light on the dash but i said no...Any ideas?

Thanks guys :)

Any other symptoms as it could be loads of things? Ours chucked out grey smoke when we fiddled with the EGR

Hi guys,

I think it just needs a good run to blast all the cobwebs out of it i gave it a bit of a rev this afternoon and it seamed to getting better but it really needs a good thrash to clear it out.I put my hand over the exhaust to check for sooty deposits and it was all clear so i just think it needs the cobwebs blowing out of it as the previous owner had it just standing on his drive for a while.

cheers for the help guys

Cleaned out the fuel filter today as the van is still a bit smokey and i was suprised when i emptied it into the container that someone has been running it on red diesel . so i cleaned it out with fresh diesel put it back in gave it a run and now it seems better as also the tank was topped up with fresh diesel but i still told my dad to take it for a run to flush it throught the system.

cheers

How about changing the filter? Red is the same quality fuel as white just has a dye in it.
