16v head on a 8v lump?

Postby GrahamT » Wed Apr 20, 2005 12:32 am

Hi,
I'd like to know if it is possible to fit a 16 valve head on the 8v lump. This is the DOHC engine as fitted to the frog eyed Scorpio. Engine code is (from memory) NSF. It is NOT the same as the older Granada or DOHC Sierra.

There are slight differences in the engines which I can't remember now but both engines are listed on the fordscorpio.co.uk website.

Apart from the head fitting are there other considerations? I have been told the Exhaust Gas Recirculation system is different?? Also, what about the ECU (EECV)?

The reason I ask is that I have a good spare block with a knackered head. If I could get a 16v head I'd fit one!! I'd like to know for certain (eg from someone who has done it?) if it's possible??

Cheers
Graham
