Brake pad/ disc Change

On a Haines manual scale of 1-5 what kinda difficulty is this job?

My discs are pretty bad and it feels like the system needs bleeding, so goin to do this all together the weekend!

pads are easy discs can be a bugger sometimes you cant even get the bolts out then they are usually seized onto the hub so it might be wise to have a small blow torch to gently heat them up i found this the best way

When I did the discs on my old van (98 lwb) it was a disaster. Seized to the hubs was an understatement ! It then involved lots of dismantling and a hydraulic press etc etc.
Added to that we managed to overtighten the locking wheel nuts on both front wheels and strip the threads. Guess what, to replace the studs involves removing the discs, at least the second time round was a bit easier !
It also cost for a new set of locking nuts too, noting that the later design were a little bit stronger.

mate i have stripped a few studs in the last year welll actually i pulled the head thru the hubs but i didnt have to take the discs off to put the new studs in

when fitting new discs it might be werth putting copper slip between the disc and the hub so next time round its a lot easyer to get off

Doubt ill attempt myself then...................could end up takin too long without the right tools for the job
