Clutch pedal problem

Postby Powertone » Wed Mar 22, 2006 11:04 am

Hi, I have a 95' Transit first of the smileys with 2.5 non turbo engine. Every now and again when I step on the clutch I get a snapping sound then a wratchet type sound coming from the pedal.

Any ideas as to the problem and how to fix?

Cheers

Its the clutch 'quadrant' thats causing the problem.

Basically it needs replacing, they are only a couple of quid and dont take long to do.

I did a post on this some time ago under the heading 'Clutch pedal ratchet problem' cos it has happened to me - once it spelt the end of the ratchet as the teeth were broken due to play in the pedal bushes but now it happens every so often & seems to be OK. Other people have had it happen for years so I guess the best thing would be to check the teeth on yours. But Rover is quite right, it's very easy to repair. :D
