petrol leak

did some checking and some crawling under the van got none of the funnel things.

it is a van tank fred, is also supposed to have a vented cap but it was too cold and dark to check last night, so that is my job tonight.

Our panel van and minibus both have after market locking petrol caps, and they don't seem to have vents in them.

totally confused now.



handbook says nothing about cap, haynes says vented cap, workshop manual says nothing about cap. yet i have a two month old cap which is leaking from between the seal and filler neck.

i think on my mk1 pickup the vent is a pipe about 3/8" that runs inside the filler neck!!! and im pritty sure the pipe then goes into the top of the sender unit from memory
i'd go have a look but its no longer on my drive!!!

not sure but i suppose it must be vented or the pipe would be no use

the pipe does finish inside the filler neck doesnt it? im trying to picture it
