OK then has anyone fitted a later transit crownwheel and pinion (mk2 or 3) into a mk1 type 27 diff housing?(single wheel)Or fitted a mk1 diff input flange to a later diff? :?:

not yet but i'd guess it will fit!! mk3 to mk1/2

the complete mk3 axle will fit on a mk1 but its 25mm wider
the only difference is the propshaft flange - but that might be interchangable!!

I fail to see why it should even be an issue as long as you use the flange from the "spare" axle and you join them at the driveshaft bearing.

Just my theory since I have no experience with that type of job so wait around to see what anybody else has to say on this subject.

Yes I see your point Rolo as long as the u/j is the same. But I cant see it being much of a job to change the input flange as long as the input shaft diameter mic s up the same.
