Trying to Fit seat covers - pulling my hair out.

Postby Lee J » Tue Mar 28, 2006 1:45 pm

Come on then, spill the beans, Im trying to fit some new seat covers to my 2001 new shape tranny passenger seat. It's a high back double seat but the cover has a hole at the top for the seat belt to poke through and a hole at the bottom for the seat belt socket to poke through butthe seat belt is attached at both top and bottom. huh?? [head scratchy]

I assume I will have to remove the seat belt.

any one help?

Hi John! I missed you on saturday at the Classic CV show in Donnington. Simon (606services) has fitted seat covers, but he had to slash them for the MOT. You could do this, then sew them up to make it a bit tidy. Try sealing the edges with contact adhesive, come to think of it it might be better to use the glue rather than sew it.

If you look under the seat base, the end of the belt is held against the frame with a torx headed bolt (T50)

If you undo it, the end of the belt can be pulled up through the seat. fit the cover and then poke the belt back through and tighten the bolt.
