2.5 Di Manifold to Exhaust Gasket which way

can anyone confirm which way round it is supposed to be fitted, or doesnt it matter, the photo shows the raised edge round the holes, the other side is flat, which side should face the manifold??, i'm thinking flat side to manifold

It doesn't matter at all, but out of some strange habit I always used to put the flat side against the manifold.

I think we all have strange habits .Some of mine make me deaf . But I would always put the flat side to the machined face . In this case the manifold .
