FOUND Central locking!! working not....

Postby Hairylex » Fri Mar 17, 2006 4:23 pm

Hi all.
This may sound dumb but i have discovered that my van badger has central locking!!! a fact that i was unaware of despite having opened the side door thousands of times and had the contacts glareing me in the face again and agian.
Ok so now we all know im a fool this is the problem. It dosent work. the fuses seem fine and theres power to the other side of the relay but nowt happens at the doors. Ive tried putting power directly in to the side door motor and it works so i put power in to the contacts on the closing piller and the back door locks and unlocks but none of the others. Are the systems seperate and what would hapen if i fed power in at one of the front doors?.
Hope someone out there can help me out.
thanks ALEX

I can't figure out exactly what your doing here m8.

When you get an assistant to lock the doors from the front or rear door lock barrel, are you getting the voltage pulse at the B post contacts?

If so, the vehicle side is fine and you need to close the door and check for the same pulse coming out of the contacts on the side door itself.
That will tell you the contacts are closing correctly and you don't have a failed contact. Obviously if you don't get the voltage signal you've got a defective contact to find.

Powering up the door motor directly won't trigger all the other doors to lock. The central locking module was quite reliable on the 95-> transits and the majority of locking issues on the side door was a misaligned contact set.

Hope it helps.

Central locking that doesn't

Postby Wino » Sat Apr 15, 2006 4:15 pm

Hi, Just a guess but you could try adjusting the 'fit' of the doors. When I got my '95 smiley, I found, sometimes the system went berzerk locking and unlocking. I eventuallt traced it to the back door not closing tight enough. I know it's a different problem but it could be the same cause. Good luck
