i know exactly what that is, i bet you have kept the petrol sendor?? if so you must remove the filter from the end of the stack pipe, diesel is thicker than petrol and cannot pass through that filter quick enough :D check it out

i had one years ago that used to do that ,and it would puff out white smoke and come to a stop ! it turned out to be dirt in the tank! but when i converted it i did remove the guase on the end but it was like black piant going up the lines! took the tank off cleened it all out and it was as sweet as a nut after that, on my lovely brand new york engine that was old stock in the box from fords for £200  they were the days!

oh and before somebody says there is no such thing as a good york you are wrong!

Mk2 sender units are getting rarer, so I have stocked up. I was wondering what the difference between petrol and diesel was.

senders

Postby robc » Mon May 01, 2006 7:05 pm

i have both the diesal sender has a return as well as a breather and no filter on the end, the petrol sender only has feed and a breather on it and a filter in the tank...

I know the diesel has a return, but we have at least on conversion running a petrol sender, and somewhere along the line on of the petrols has a diesel sender. I know, I can hear you saying swap them over, but as both are working fine, best not fix something that isn't broken!
