Small but annoying problems

Postby Smarty » Sat May 06, 2006 8:48 pm

8) Hello out there,
I have a couple of little problems, the first one is a pool of water sitting on top of the engine after it has been raining. I have done the obvious and cleaned the bonnet seal, to make sure there is a clean seal. Then I cleaned the rubber seal and then checked the little oval drain holes along the lip before the seal.
However I am still getting a pool of water on the off side end of the engine. It is not a major problem as it drains/drys when moving, but as I only use the van at weekends I am worried about the long term corrosion effects.
Is there a know problem with the seal round the bonnet.
..By the way I have a new shape 280 SWB low roof.

Also what should the tyre pressures be?

Thanks Smarty 8)

Yes you are right, I will coat the lot with WD40 (well where needed) as for the Manual, yes I did get one with the van, but I am partially sighted and had to have the controls converted to brail.

:D :D

Sorry, I was just too idle to go and look as I am in the warm and the handbook in the glove box. I will look tomorrow.

every current shape Transit gets water on top of the valve cover, so don't feel special

The water comes out of the metal panel above the engine instead of being dropped on the floor via the drain on the left hand side as you look at the van.

Re the tyre pressures, you need to cross reference the tyre size against the axle capacity to get the correct pressure.

No that gives the maximum pressure the particular tyre can take, NOT what is required for the vehicle the tyre is fitted to.
