Pinto Economy

Postby Guy88 » Fri May 05, 2006 9:35 pm

Is there an easy way of getting more MPG from my 2 ltr 5 speed MK3.

It is returming about 18 MPG around town and about 20-22 on a good run.

It is running a single choke webber on a manual choke.
with the prices at the minuit i need more economy (if possible :?: )

efi would be best :!: but a cheeper/easier option woould be a twin choke webber you would get more power and no loss of economy!!

last one my mate bought about 6months ago was £20 out of local free adds - im not sure about the manifold ive fitted them to escorts and capris which wouldnt fit to a single choke manifold but apparantly they will fit to transit manifold - i'll let someone else confirm that!! :D

I have a twin choke webber with manifold that will fit your engine...the only downside will be that you will not be able to use the flexiheat pipe from above the exhaust manifold...oh and to filter the air you have a choice of getting a Sierra air box or an aftermarket fancy looking version.

The ebay link one 'may' fit all I know is the last 2 vans I had both had webbers installed, the oldest one was aftermarket and a manual choke the last petrol van came with the twin choke version (using the water choke switch off pipes already installed) so the one I have spare became just that spare...now I have a diesel and no way am I going back to petrol, even with the extra cost of fuel it does huge MPG figures compared to the petrol one I had...1st was 4 speed next was 5 speed and only a small increase in MPG.
