Postby thevanwizard » Mon May 08, 2006 11:03 pm

I am currently toying with the idea of getting a mk3 / mk4 transit could anyone tell me the distance accross from outside of wheel to outside of wheel as i need to see if it would go on my car trailer i can fit a bedford cf on but it is very tight and was wondering if the transit was the same or wider

The MK3 is the narrowist (is that even a word? :? ) one of all, I have one sitting outside but as its 11.15 I aint going out there tonight with a torch and measure, if no-one else can tell you tonight I will check for you in the morning.

I reckon that if a CF goes on your trailer, you'll have no problem at all with a Mk3 Tranny :wink:

With taking my alloys into account they the outside track is 194cm on the front (which is wider than the rear), if you are planning standard wheels then you will have a little more to play with.

and a mk5 is 1974mm :D
You only need two tools in life: WD-40 and Duct Tape. If it doesn't move and it should, use WD-40. If it moves and shouldn't, use the duct tape.

if the distances you have given of 194 cm is right then it is no good the transit is 11cm wider than a cf so it wont fit on my trailer as it only has a 6'1" wide bed so will have to give it a miss then unless it is narower with standard wheels i am trying to find one on a car park to measure but none about when you need one :cry:

Short Wheel Base;

Front Track 1680 mm or in English :lol: 66.1 inches

Rear Track 1510 mm or 59.5 inches

This is from my original 1987 Handbook. :D However it doesn't show where they measure from or to :?

I hope you find one in a car park :D But as you say there's none about when you want one :lol: :lol: :lol:

The track is measured as inside the wheels officialy, but that doesnt really tel you much so its easier to measure and take wheels and tyres into account..
