Ford change the colours avaliable, the colours you can get now are not the colours you could get a little while ago.

That is a really nic egrey Luke. I hadn't been a fan of grey as a finished colour, it always used to look like polished primer, but not the shade you have there. Nice. 8) Have we hijacked this thread?

the grey van that beetle driver saw

Postby Steve@CCR » Sat May 13, 2006 11:38 am

it was highly likely to be medium steel blue.

there are two versions of medium steel blue which are completly different!

one version is a lot bluer and the other version has more grey and a lot less blue.
the latter is one you will have seen and is used on loads of ford pumas.

medium steel blue was probably a replacement for mercury grey.

I've only ever come across magnum grey on a focus. i'm gonna paint
my transit bumpers in magnum grey as it is a rather flat grey and will
look better than faded and scuffed grey texture finish.

Ah that would explain it then. If I go into Ford and ask for the colour code for the lighter/greyer one, will they give me blank looks and be useless or are they clued up?

VW are terrible... they can't do anything without knowing your number plate, and cos mine's private and an import, it doesn't come up on their system.... they look worried when I wander in

medium steel blue

Postby Steve@CCR » Tue May 16, 2006 12:29 am

yes they will give you blank looks.

if you can find a supplier of PPG paints in your area then i can send
you the colour formula to show them and they will mix it for you.

that's about the best i can do mate.

the number for PPG is 01449 771775, they will tell you the nearest
supplier (i think).
