newbie questions, manuals, electronics, power

Postby robi » Tue Feb 21, 2006 9:08 pm

so folks i bought a 1994 2.5 litre Deisel transit in august.

served me well so far but I have several issues

1. the ownwers manual is in German, I live in hungary and cannot speak German... how to get an Eng. lang or Hung. one? Some warning light comes on - but again I cannot udnerstand the German manuarl... sg about water getting in the fuel... the light looks like a Petrol canister with waves/water under it...

2, I only have one key. is there any way to get a new one made?

3. None of interior lights work now. Fuses all seem to be good

4. Any way to boos the engine power... would like to be able to drive a bit faster, at least when not loaded down

5. Fog lights, they hard to install?

Well, That should be enough to keep you all bored for a bit, sorry to bother you and thanks for you time

if its a 1994 - it shouldnt have the red key - so you should be able to have one cut no probs!!
to check just look at the key if it has no red bit on it then you are ok!!

Hi

Your local ford dealer can get you an owners hand book for the vehicle. They can even sort you out with a new key with or without an immobilser chip, as Luke said check for a red dot on the back edge of the key fob.

The warning light your seeing is a water in fuel light, you need to drain the water trap in the fuel filter and see how it goes from there.

Fog lights.....that all depends on your level of electrical and mechanical skill to be honest.

The power of the engine isn't going to go up that much what ever you do to it really, you could search these forum pages and up the fueling a little but smoke will increase with that.

For the interior lights, if the fuses are good, you need to check the bulbs and make sure your getting 12V at the lamps.

Hope some of that helps :)

I have a Haynes workshop manual for the diesel Transit if that is any good to you? Private mail me. The only cost would be postage as I now have a petrol Torneo.

Also there is a owners manual for sale on Ebay. See

I want to know if you've bought a MK4 or a MK5 :?:
The MK4 always had dim cluster lights :( Or did you mean courtesy light :?:

And a TIS disc from ebay is outstanding value for money :D As is the offer from frank_sumner :!: :D :D

If you're any good at DIY you'll be fine fitting foglights :D The question is which type :?:

lhd by the looks of it
You only need two tools in life: WD-40 and Duct Tape. If it doesn't move and it should, use WD-40. If it moves and shouldn't, use the duct tape.
