reverse lights come on when breaking

hi i have a 51 reg swb transit van when i indicate and press the break my indicator speeds up and reverse lights come on when the break is released everything is fine it only seams to happen when i break can anyone help.thanks jamie

hello and welcome m8 it sounds like you could have a bad earth but i may be wrong

Get someone to look at the lights, switch on sides, rear fogs and hazards. Then apply the brakes. Look at which side goes bananas, that is the one with the earth problem. Take out the bulb holder and disconnect the wiring plug. Look for white corrosion on the earth tag. Clean all the connections and you should be fine

Jamie where abouts in the country are you, I seen a mk6 on the m6 somewhere north of Brum with this fault a few weeks back
