Mk6 2.4 125ps non charging

Ive got a crewcab 2001 that Ive just got back from having a chassis stretch and recovery body built. When I drove it up, it was perfect, no charging faults. On the way back from picking it up, the battery light was on and there was zero charge whatsoever. Ive checked all the fuses, no faults found. Im guessing that the welding has caused a problem somewhere, but is there anything that its most likely to be so I can check.

Sorry to be bearer of bad news mate, but it sounds like your diode pack in the alternator has been fried. So you are looking at a new Alternator. The Alt should always be disconnected along with the battery and the ECU before any welding is done as they are very sensitive bits of kit and don't take too kindly to having massive current stuck up them.
