hazard lights

Postby negg » Fri Dec 25, 2009 2:58 pm

hi all ive a 2002 2.0 diesel transit and had some electrical probs with it but all sorted now exept just for one little one with the hazards when i press the hazard button the relay clicks as though its energizing and then nothing happens untill you move the indicator stick to either turn lift or right then the hazards work fine ?? also when i lock the van by pressing key fob the hazards used to flash but dont now ??? could it be the hazard flasher or harard button ??? thanks neil

sounds like either a bad earth or a new switch / stalk is required that is how i solved mine as the i think the flasher and the stalk are the same thing

it can be the haz switch but some one might of put wrong relay in. i had to put a relay in from a vauxhall vectra (as i did not have one at the time) and would only work as you discribe and i noticed it had less conectors than the ford ones. SO CHECK THE RELAY NEXT TO STEERING COLUM IF IT IS A FORD ONE..???

yes it is and it used to work , i had major electrical probs basically the wiring loom behind the nearside headlight had been rubbing on the body and was shorting things out ! this has nopw been repaired and the hazard prob is the only thing wrong with it ! im sure it cant be a major problem ????
