starter motor will not mesh in properly

starter motor got old one off, new one on but not sitting down properly try start up it just clicks, as it is jamed, could flywheel be worn as it is a 03 plate t280 2ltr i been told that my flywheel is dual mass flywheel has any one else had this trouble mick..

Have you tried a jump start cos that sounds like a flat battery
