need help changing fan belt on N reg 2.5 diezel

Hi, I'd much appreciate any help on this.
I've just changed the alternator and mounting bracket on my van and need to fit the fan belt to get it working.
The problem is, I have no idea how to remove the power steering belt which is in the way. I've checked the manual, but the picture and instructions don't seem to correspond with what I can see. I've tried slacking off nuts one at a time and using a crowbar to lever the hinge, but no luck. Plus I'm afraid of using too much force in case I break something.
Any help wouild be much appreciated.

Quickest and easiest way is to remove the 3 bolts holding the pulley on the power steering pump. This saves messing about with the tension adjustment.

If you want to adjust the belt tension there is a square nut in a quadrant slot at the front of the pump bracket and you loosen its bolt from the back of the pump. You also need to slacken the pivot bolt. The whole pump moves to adjust belt tension.
