53 Plate transit wont start again. Please help

Postby g1logie » Thu Jan 07, 2010 12:29 pm

Hi
I have a 53 plate transit, Im having trouble starting it. It started out, being just very tempremental, making a whizzing sound. and usualy rocking the gear stick a bit and trying again got it going. However its now not starting at all. Iv had it in at a garage, They said it was a burnt out starter solonoid and fitted a new starter and glow plugs , all thats achieved is, it now tries to start, it turns over and in the end up still wont start. I have asked about the alternator and battery. The garage said that both are fine, because the van wouldnt tick over if it was the battery and kindoff the same reason for the alternator. I really need it working as soon as possible because i can work without it and would welcome any advice.
If I get a tow, I can get it to bump start, and it runs fine.
Also boot cv joints snapped again after 2 weeks at most. Im assuming this is crappy workmanship, or is it a common problem.
Thanks graeme

Hi
Its a fwd. high top. 2.4 deisel. 112000miles
It was starting no problems the night i got it back, and then in the morning, wouldnt start.
Its now in the garage that deals with fuel injection and pumps on the recomendation of the first garage for diagnostics. They say its something to do with the injectors. Iv had this problem twice before, but the van still started, when I had this problem before the van would cut out when running, and randomly just stop, but im having no problems once its running.
It probably does have problems with the injectors, but would this cause it not to start with no other warnings, and without the engine management light coming on. I just want to get it starting on its own, i dont really care whats wrong with it now... Iv decided iv had enough of it and want to give it back to the finance company. but cant until it starts on its own. Its on its 4th starter. not to mention 2 injectors and a host of other problems.

It will not be 2.4 and FWD. Will be 2.0 FWD or 2.4 RWD
