Fitting a CD player and speakers

Postby tommakin » Sun Jan 17, 2010 4:38 pm

Hello all,

This is my first post as i'm new to the Ford Transit world but i have recently got my hands on a 1992 J reg SWB 2.5D and am in the process of turning it into a home from home for surf/ climbing trips.

The van came with no radio or speakers and the bare wires hanging out of the radio slot, this makes for easy fitting (i think) but dont have the first clue what i'm doing or which cheap cd/ aux in/ remote controlled cd player to fit.

In short, can anyone help or at least point me in the right direction as i am reluctant to pay for a pro to fit it and the hard graft of fitting it myself will make those tunes sound all the more sweeter.

Thanks in advance to any advice.

First off, have you got connections or literally bare wires?

If bare wires you'll need the correct connections to your new head and a wiring diagram (I think there is one floating about on here somewhere) and simply connect the wires to the correct terminal on the block.

Then plug the radio in and add your speakers + CD and you're on for a good one :D

If I can do it then anyone can :!:

Wires colours at Stereo on a MK4

Brown (usually 2 of) = Earth
Yellow = Switched Live
Red = Permanent Live
Grey/Red = Illumination

The speakers will be 2 pairs of Striped Browns

Are there no speakers in the side panels just under the dash on each side
Or would that be the later interior
