The wires are probably tucked down the side of the engine then and have rubbed through.

So...just been on the autobahn..ran ok, no smoke, no steam..80 MPH. The orange light is still on so i,m thinking as you that the sensor plug that in the loom is clogged with ice or water. It was below freezing here last night and still 8 inches of snow about to freeze again. I,m thinking that although i dont have the fuel filter with sensor, the loom is such that it is there if you did have that kind of fuel filter.??
