A couple of questions

Postby mike206sp » Tue Jan 26, 2010 6:33 pm

Hi,I hope someone can help me with my couple of questions. Firstly my transit is a 2001 Y reg, last of the smiley shape wit a 2.5 non turbo engine,70000 miles and no problems and recently serviced.

1) I am going to be doing a lot of motorway mile soon,is there anything I can do to increase fuel economy and shut the thing up a bit??? fuel/oil addatives etc Also the back will be empty while on the motorways.

2) I am after central locking and a decent alarm as the van will be a bit of a target in the area im traveling to and from, any recomendations for these???

3) Is there anything else I should know/do to make Transit ownership as pailess as possible???

Cheers

Mike

If its going to be a target I would move away from central locking and put deadlocks on each door! With C/L if one door is open they all are!

Good idea,I hadn't thought of deadlocks :) Still would like an alarm though. Preferably with flame throwers to keep the theiving twats away.

You can get SlamLok kits to fit the MK5, just don't leave your keys inside

Alarm wise, I would recommend either TOAD or Clifford. You should have an active PATS immobiliser so you don't need to bother with a CAT 1. TOAD do the Compact range which are good value for money, the C4 is designed for commercial vehicles and will set you back around £80 plus installation.

Thanks for the alarm info, not sure about the immobiliser though as I only have one key and it doesn't have the little red chip in it.
