Postby JohnTransit97 » Thu Jan 28, 2010 12:29 am

Does anyone know where I can get my hands on a Throttle Control Rod for a !998 R reg Ford Transit Minibus. My local Ford Dealer in Swansea has not got them available any more.

Yes its the one from the pump to the inlet. One of the sockets is worn on the end of the rod.

Just lets the engine breathe better, doesn't cause any problems.

The rod controls a throttle plate in the inlet manifold to create enough depression for the EGR circuit to work, and also to help keep intake roar down at low speeds and throttle openings.

Either take the rod off and cable tie/lock wire the plate fully open, or remove the plate from the spindle. The intake noise will be much louder, but you'll soon get used to it.

One handy thing is they do start better once this is done.
