I may be totally wrong here but perhaps there is nothing wrong at all. On these cold mornings, white vapour is quite normal until the engine warms up.

Is this normal condensation being boiled off as the engine warms? Are you sure that it is smoke and not water vapour?

Just a thought

combustion process creates a lot of water as a byproduct thats why you see water dripping from exhausts, and white steam pouring out.

'could' be signs of early head gasket failure... keep a close eye on wether the white smoke continues through the day (it would be more 'smokey' at idle when warm, you won't notice great loss of coolant....

loose the car behind or some little cloud at tail pipe ?

if you cant see behind then its a worry , if theres a small cloud of a few feet from the pipe i would not its as said condensation in the pipe burning off

Hello all,

My van is a petrol/ lpg ,have been told that smoke is probably from water in exhaust caused by lpg emmission,
however if i run van just on petrol for the week it still smokes like mad every morning for about 3 or 4 minutes then its fine till next morning.WE ARE TALKING ROAD FILLING SMOKE /WHITE GREY IN COLOUR!
Could this be valve stem oil seals?any ideas would be welcome!

Valve stem oil seals would be blue smoke and it would use oil, It does sound to me to be quite normal for a petrol engine :?
