Throttle position sensor failures

Postby rhmanning » Sun Jan 31, 2010 2:45 am

I have a 2007 Ford Transit and have had 3 throttle position sensors fail over a period of 3 years. When it fails, the engine rpm s will not go above 1500 rpm and no power. One sensor lasted 2 years and the others less than 6 months. Is any body else experiencing this problem and how did they fix it - any idea what could be causing this failure?? It does correct itself after depressing the accelerator many times and the engine will run normallly until you stop the engine again.

I know they can be troublesome but not this quick.... something may be bent, putting strain on the unit?... overtightened?
