Postby falsh » Tue Jan 26, 2010 3:32 pm

i have dropped a H reg 2.5d engine into my campervan.i have replaced fuel filter and have put manual primer pump on.The van will start and run lovely for a will then it will just conk out like its starved of fuel.it seems to me that the engine will run off the fuel in the filter but after that its like its just not pulling the fuel through.it has been standing for a while but i have taken off the filler cap to releave the pressure and still nothing.please please help this newbie!!!

possibly... do you have a lucas or bosch fuel pump?

When it conks out undo the tap on the fuel filter and see if some diesel comes out

If it was a petrol, you'll need to remove the pick up gauze in the fuel tank

Not being a guru but the fuel is dropping back to the tank going by the explanation, the whole fuel line going to the filter has to be sealed to prevent air being drawn in...I have heard of one way valves being fitted inline, not sure if this is a cure but another choice maybe.

I discovered once a filter had been connected the wrong way round on an HGV, this in effect did the same thing, once the fuel lines were put the correct way round it was fine. Not sure if you can put it on wrong on a transit....
