Tell tale light an fogs

Postby tonymccullochuk » Tue Feb 16, 2010 9:34 pm

I am having problems with my tell tale and fog light on my p reg p80 trany. The light and switch were not working so was part of the mot fail. The switch was not connected, so i connected it and turned the lights on. The fuse blew so i replaced it, it blew again so i replaced it with a 15amp. That worked fine. The next day i tested it again and it blew, it also took out the main beam from my offside headlight. If i put a fuse in and dont put the fogs on the headlight is ok. Something tells me there may be a bad connection or wires crossing somewhere. Does anyone no what the issue could be? The van is going back in tomorrow for the bigger work to be done now that ive done the less technical stuff.
Cheers
Tony

Could be damaged wiring somewhere in van, or bad bulbs in foglights, or dodgy wiring at trailer socket (if fitted)

Its not the bulb, i checked them first, then when i connected the cable to the switch the fog came on. I do have a towbar and was having issues when i used to use a light board. I will take a look at that tomorrow. Cheers

take the rear clusters out remove the fog light bulb and try again if it still blows take the connector plug out of the cluster's..failing that check the wiring loom as it could have been cut at some point causing a short.
