Fuel Gauge Problem ?

hi all,

I have a mk3 transit, i recently replaced the MT75 gearbox that was in it, and ever since the diesel gauge isnt working ??????
ive checked the fuse and its ok.

any idea's?

You must of pulled the wire off the tank sender somehow...
The temp guage is still OK yes, as they share power.
The loom runs along side the gearbox on the chassis and joins in with the reversing light switch

hi yes temp gauge is ok.

the plug/connector that plugs into the gearbox looks broken, so could it be that?

Are any of the brown or the blue/black wires damaged?
One of the two brown wires is the earth supply to the sender, that goes through the tank sender switch and back to the dash clocks via the blue with black trace wire. It doesnt show where, but it shares the the same earth point (no 503) as the REV switch, but its a common earth on the body somewhere along the loom on the way back to the bulkhead. It then goes through the bulkhead plug inside the firewall and upto the dash connector.

i have 2 wires 1 brown and 1 blue and both look fine. ?

Ok your happy that the wiring is undamaged...
It could be coincidence that its gone at the same time... possible faulty sender, a bit difficult to check without dropping the tank
Or
a faulty guage, but at least you can check this, by earthing the the blue wire to the body, which will deflect the needle to full.

I would still have a good look around for any damaged loom tape just incase

Oh and nearly forgot, you may have inadvertently yanked the wiring on the top of the tank

yeah all the wires look fie, but ive noticed ow that the connector block with the 2 wires wont slot into the gearbox properly, (wot go in far enough to lock in place)
can i cut the connector off and just put the wires on direct to the 2 terminals??

i will try the other things u said as well today and update later

Ive never had a problem with the plug, but yes, I can't see why not
