How to get the power up - Mk5 Di

Postby offrd » Tue Mar 16, 2010 10:38 pm

Hello all!

Im new here! :D
I thought i would kick off by doing the mod, how to get the power up  BUT i screwed up!

I got the cover off, loosened the lock nut off, wound the screw in one and half turns, thought great that was easy!

Tightened up the nut, ah  did not realise the screw inside turned too....

Spun the ratchet around a few times, thought, hmm did not think i have loosened the locknut off that much!

Then it dawned on me..... the bloody screw was turning!

SO i have no idea at what turn point i am with the screw!

The van smoked like a bugger when i hit the gas! so i wound it down until i can hit the gas hard with little smoke.

Is there a factory setting - all the way in and then out x turns or ?????

Or should i just sell it!

Don't you mean; unwound it up :?:
According to the instructions, it's clockwise (wind in/down) for more power and if you overdo it, smoke
There's no "factory" setting, as fuel pumps are set up individually on a test bench according to specific criteria :D

Absolutely :!: :D

 But only check for smoke during the day as headlights behind you at night will always make the van look as though it's smoking

I did the exact thing, to make sure I got it right I used a long socket and put mole grips on it so that I could keep the alen key in the same position whilst I did up the lock nut,Steve

Bolt on, crank up the fuel a little and go or is it more serious?

I think it may involve a little more than that, I`m sure theres a thread on here about putting a turbo on a di, have you had a search ?
