As many have us have found the Heater Resistor likes to die so we end up with just a single speed (full) on the blower for the heater, the resistor itself is rarely actually dead but the connections are corroded through. To replace is rather awkward due to where it is fitted as standard down below the Drivers side headlamp. High Cube has his Resistor screwed to the slam panel with a self tapping screw (wrong size as it vibrates loose
) I thought about drilling into the body but the clearance to do so just isn't there....so if you look underneath your slam panel there is a vertical bracing panel to the right of the headlamp in which Fords have thoughtfully provided a nice round hole. All you have to do is slightly enlarge the hole on the new resistor mounting plate and use a short bolt with a washer either side and a nylock bolt. The ally cage is just that a 'cage' it has no earthing whatsoever and the resistor is easily removed from this before you bolt the cage to the body...remember to bend the sides back in when you place the resistor in the cage or it will fall out. Now you have a resistor in a sensible place with easy access and a heck of a lot less likely to get damp and corrode. I have now done this and have all my heater control speeds back. Whilst this isn't a huge job any further replacements will be easily done in seconds not half an hour and many swear words later.
