Changing Alternator

Postby Cathal » Thu Apr 01, 2010 10:03 pm

Hi all,

What's the story with changing the alternator on a '01 FWD Transit? I've removed the bolts but I can't see how to drop it out to fit the new one. What do I need to do? I'm badly stuck I've to work tomorrow.

Thanks

Cathal

You need to undo the steering column joint at the rack and swing it out of the way. Put the steering at straight ahead so you can reconnect the joint in the same place on re-assembly.

N.B. The pinch bolt MUST be replaced by a new one and the original not used again. It is best to put a new belt on as well.
