It is not a core plug as the water is going into the oil and only when it is under pressure, if a core plug comes out it leaves a 30 mm diameter hole in the engine and the water runs out of it as soon as you fill it. I put a pressure tester on it today and when I pumped it up I could hear water pouring into the sump as I could not see water down the pushrod tubes and when I removed the head there was no sign of crack I have came to the conclusion that if the head was cracked the water would have to pass the cam followers and would not pour into the sump but would have to find its way down I am sure there must be a crack between the liner and the cam followers, I have came to this though not being an expert on ford engines I am a diesel fitter and I will look at fitting another short engine as there are plenty of them about, Thanks for all the input to this Thread, Stevie
