Major Engine Probs - timing chain & tensioner

I am hoping someone can help with some information on timing chain and tensioner problems that damaged other parts of the vehicle resulting in a bill of about $7000. It required another cylinder head among other things. I did read in an old Cars Guide that there might have been a recall or a warranty issue with this. The van has a build date of 06/05 and is a 2.5L diesel. The OD was approx. 130000. Does anyone know anything to do with this? and can it be claimed back? Many thanks in advance.

looks like timing chain tentioner has failed,the chain jumps a tooth (s) and the result is a broken camshaft carrier,and as the camshaft carrier and head have to be a matched pair they have fitted a new head and carrier.the tententioner should have been replaced quite a while ago 130,000 is far to long to have a tentioner fitted...,for future reverence.. ,concencus is replace tentioner at 50,000...60,000 miles,very expensive lesson.also make sure you are using correct oil and genuine filters,as tentioner uses spring and oil to tention chain,
think if im right there was a slight modification on the tentioners,on the early mk6,cant see you being able to claim any thing back thou
