Get a Delphi solenoid plunger kit ASAP and change the solenoid plunger.
There is an exploded diagram of the Lucas Epic pump here somewhere in this forum, I think in "useful information" or do a search.

What happened to me is the same as you. Van would not turn off, limp mode etc.
I let it go for too long so when I pulled the old solenoid plunger, I saw its got a ruber tip and that tip had broken off (the rubber goes off when its old).
At that point when I got the new plunger, the van was not starting any more. What had happened is the rubber bit off the plunger had gone into a pump gallery and blocked it. So because I didnt do it straight away I was up for a new pump.

Look at the pump diagrams in this forum and change the plunger in situ, even though its behind the pump and akward. Watch all the "o" rings that go in there too or it will leak.
A Ford dealer will tell you you have to change the whole pump, dont listen to them change the plunger only first.
A pump removal is the mother of all jobs, it involves a timing belt change and pump timing - Id rather eat broken glass than do the pump timing again.

Good luck get that Delphi plunger Kit hope you have a more painless experience than me

I wanted to thank you for your responses. It was with all of the help I was able to fondle my pump. I replaced the stop plunger without removing the pump. I did not however locate the old rubber tip on the old plunger upon separating the solenoids from the back of the pump. It is possible it fell out and I did not see it (I pray). It was not an easy task. The plastic cover with connector for the computer is near impossible to work around. I removed the other solenoids and sensor to give more room. It also helped to smear the new O-rings with petroleum jelly to help them stay in place while lining up the solenoids and getting the bolts back in them. So far so good. The engine is running normally again and shuts off with the first click of the key. Still have a smoking problem. Leaky turbo suspected. That's another topic.
