Does that help, or have I just confused the issue?!?
Jon.
i think all you've done is repeated what ive already said.
something i discovered about the definition of "dual purpose Vehicle" while looking into this......but didnt go into at the time as i thought it would definately confuse the issue....is that whilst the legislation and documentation relating to the definition of the rules states either 4x4 or "some other conditions".......the agencies responsible for actually enforcing the law (ie VOSA and various police force websites i looked at) state that a dual purpose vehicle MUST be a 4x4 and dont state the other permissable conditions.
the cynic in me reckons this is likely because the law in its wider definition means any transit size van with windows and seats in the back could be classed as a dual purpose vehicle, when the law was actually written (badly) to just cover things like L200 crewcabs, navaras, Rangers etc, and they are quietly trying to plug the hole and rely on the publics ingnorance. there must be a fair bit of revenue gleaned from ticketing vans at 70mph on dual carridgeways.
i was going to measure up the glass and the seat / load space and see if it worked in a tranny, before posting this, but it got forgotten..
