Wheel Bearing Settings & Torque Advice

Finally got the hub off tonight...needed cold chisel and lump hammer, luckily I am replacing the discs, totally seized onto into the strut. Am I best to cover the spline and the area where this sits with copper slip when I re-assemble ?. Also wanted to change discs on N/S but don't want to damage hub, really hope I can get it off without causes damage to the hub. Local garage said they would push the old bearing off and new 1 on, just waiting for good deal on bearing from ebay, Ford want £46 ish and local car parts want £65 ?.

The bearings have a habit of leaving the inboard inner race on the hub , so they'll probably have to cut the race for you too.

The bearings take some shifting on a press, i've had an indicated 37t on one and the bugger still wouldn't shift.

Quite often it's quicker to cut the bearing with the gas axe, just exercise caution as you don't want to overheat the hub itself.

Yes, clean and copper slip the section of the hub carrier where the bearing sits in the spindle carrier and a thin smear of copperslip on the drive shaft splines won't hurt either.

Don't apply it to the threads of the bolts though, the new bolts supplied with the bearing kit come with a thread locking compound on them.

Hi again,
All done on the N/S just trying to get an accurate torque settings in ft/lb's for hub nut ?.
Could someone please advise correct torque for new shape transite wheel hub nut 36mm AF. Don't want to get this wrong as you mention it could fail early if not tightened correctly.

It's 430Nm,

if your torque wrench doesn't have Nm on it, I suggest google for a conversion calculation
