engine swap question ...

arite guy,s ? .. i havent been on here for ages but ive got a bit of an issue wich i hope you can help with ...

basicly my banana manifolded n/a 2.5 pick up has recently started to run on on its oil revving madly and when its doing it it sounds like the crank is hanging out .. but one left for five mins it will run fine again (once the smoke has cleared ) the only way to stop it is by dumping the clutch!!!

ive come to the conclusion that my engine is ruined .. is there an easy fix ??

i have got a back up plan wich involves a non banana manifolded engine from a k plate van ..
my question is will the banana manifold and exhaust manifold fit on the other engine ?
and other than changing the pump , if they were to fit would i come up against any other drama,s or is it plain sailing ??

my truck is p reg twin wheel tipper and the van is k reg swb .. is there a difference in power ?

sorry if this topic has been coverd before but any help or advice would be greatfully recieved
as i need my truck for work ..

Take the rocker cover off and make sure all the rocker bolts are tight - especially the 10mm ones.

The engine power is dictated by the injectors, injection pump and manifolds - swap those over and you will have the same power engine

nice one , ile pop the rocker cover off in the morning and have a look ..
im not 100% sure if its terminal because when its not have a funny five mins it runs like a gold watch ..
and does not smoke at all .. ive re routed the breather pipe from the oil cap into a white spirit bottle thinking that that might help .. these engines are pretty basic , my first thought was the rings but if they were ruined it would smoke all the time wouldnt it ?
