inlet manifold

i have read that if you clean your inlet manifold out it will improve performance is this right i have a 51 reg mk6 swb fwd also can anyone tell me if the manifold is at the front or the back of the engine as you look in and how easy is it to do plz pm me and anyone know the colours of the side light wires back and front on the same van

it at the front of the engine under the duratorque cover..
sidelights in the rear by gutters
orange with blue tracer on O/S
orange with green tracer on N/S
Beware there is 3 of these colors on each side so you will need to test with multimeter first..

it will if its all gummed up, but if its fairley clean it wont make a lot of difference if any.also blank egr while your doing it thats what causes them to gum up
