leaking turbo

Postby jonb1 » Wed Jan 06, 2010 6:04 pm

hi guys need some help
ive got a 135ps 350 rwd transit with 120000 miles , when u drive it at around 2000rpm you can here air escaping a bit like blown turbo pipe on closer inspection it apears to be blowing exaust gases out of the turbo between manifold & turbo itself cant see any cracks etc , may be a bit down on power but no excesivly is it a known fault for the turbos to leak

bit of a delayed update on this one but the hissing noise was coming from the turbo basically the cat was blocked & with so much back pressure it partialy blew the turbo out of the manifold by about 5mm alowing gases to escape hence the hissing under load the bolts on a 135 tdci holding turbo in are so small it cracked a tiny piece of manifold out & allowed it to move , i slackened all the bolts tapped it back in & fitted some slightly bigger washers decated it & its run like a train for a couple of months now :D :D :D
