Does lighter have 2 fuses in a 96 model transit?

Postby mick123 » Tue Apr 13, 2010 8:25 pm

I have arced out the lighter by cutting through the 2 wires without disconnecting the battery (stupid I know). After re-conecting the lighter does not work and the wires to it have no power. I checked fuse 13 next to the drivers right knee and it seems fine?? Is there another fuse somewhere? I have also had a quick look above the glove box (under the pullout tray) I can see a wiring loom and a control module but no fuses.

I suspect that you have also lost your radio so check the fuse panel again for the radio fuse.

Radio is working fine, I removed radio fuse to confirm wiring and radio went off. Everything seems fine but the lighter. I do recall reading about a second fuse but I dont know where it is located if there is one??

I cant see an inline fuse, I have looked under the steering column, around the glove box area. The wires go pretty much straight to the loom. Am I looking in the wrong place?

ok so I read somewhere (not sure where) and put a device in the lighter socket and drove around as usual for an hour or so to find that the lighter fuse was now blown (after changing it and checking it previous). Put a new fuse in and it went fine, something somewhere must have reset. So there you go.
