What engine can I fit?

Postby fritzspa » Wed Jun 02, 2010 1:06 am

I have a 1998 LWB Transit Minibus. It is currently fitted with the 2 litre petrol engine but as I am turning it into a dayvan I would like to fit a bigger engine. I have read about fitting the 2.9 Cosworth engine from the Granada into it so was considering that as reading some other articles I believe this may fit straight onto the existing gearbox. Open to any suggestions as I would really like to know what is the easiest big engine to fit.

Thanks

I'll be fitting a cossie engine later in the year. I already have a Granada donor car which I bought for £300 off flea bay. I've managed to find some engine mounts off a v6 ambulance which you will need to find or you will have to make some. Other than that I think you are pretty sorted as you already have a petrol van. I've picked up a ambulance rad and oil cooler as well but I think you can use yours but I'm sure someone will correct me
lot of the cossie vans are going to northweald the weekend after next so it might be a good idea to come along and annoy them with lots of questions like I'm going too
oh and welcome to the sight, now get some pics of your van up
