Transit 2.5 w reg power problems

Postby admiral.snelson » Mon Jun 07, 2010 9:40 pm

Hi

I have recently purchased an LDV 400 Convoy Minibus with a transit 2.5l engine which has done 147,000 miles and is 10 years old. It is very underpowered. It does not have a turbo, I have changed the fuel filter and oil filter, had the timing checked and replaced all the fluids. It will just about do 60mph and will struggle to do 30 on an incline. Is this normal for this type of vehicle? It is the high top model so I guess there is quite a bit of wind resistance. Is there anything else I should try to get a bit more juice out of it? My other LDV is an J reg with a peugeot engine and it runs rings around the transit. Please advise me if you can.

Thanks

Chris

Sounds like Torque sleeve, change that. If you need more info have a search.

You might also want to do the pump and EGR mod that is also described on here.

Thanks i'll try that. Any idea where I can get a torque sleeve from? and how much should it cost?
