clutch problem

hi i have a
ford trasit
x reg 2000
on my transit when i put my foot down on the clutch then try to put it in gear it doesnt go on gear 1 and reverse gear
at the moment i have to put it in gear 1 hold down the clutch then start the van and drive but then it wont go back into gear 1 once come off
the clutch also feels very light and easier to press
please can anyone help
