Rear axle tag

Postby Wildy » Thu Jun 17, 2010 11:16 am

Does the tag on a mk5 5 stud axle show the diff ratio? I've looked at an axle today but the tag only appears to have the part number stamped down the middle. Can the ratio be identified from this? Unlike the 6 stud axles which have the info on the tag.

What were the numbers on the tag?

It was difficult to make out, but after a little wire brushing im sure about seven or eight digits in there was 411?

it should be in big letters like the 6 stud ones

did you remove the tag from the scrappy and bring it back to read it clearer ;)

No,I could see enough to know it wasn't the same as the 6 stud tags. It only had a line of digits down the middle. I may investigate further

I believe you can tell from the number, no need for microcat.
