New key for w reg transit

Postby tabscat » Wed Jun 16, 2010 2:32 pm

Broke key trying to open fuel cap- the cap has been stiff for a while . Basically the metal shank came out of the black plastic body. C an I get a key cut at a locksmiths or will I have to go to ford? Since my van is alarmed(I think- the key handle has the little red square onit) what do I do about this? How much shuld I expect to pay?

Cheers

You can get a key cut and tape the other part of your old key under the steering column.Should only be bout a fiver.

you could always just pull the transponder out of the old key and put it into the new one

Where's the best place to get a spare key? one of my 2 keys is so worn it now won't open the fuel cap, the other key works perfect but don't want to wear it down, all the locks are fine i just don't want to wear down the only good key i have, the worn key works fine in the ignition, i don't mind carrying another key for the fuel cap

Got 2 keys for £10.50 from timpsons BUT they only did the blue chip ones not the red so I didn't get them chipped. Also my central locking doesn't seem to work woth my new keys even when holding my old chipped key fob with them.

central locking should work without the chipped key, its just the starting the chip is used for
