mk 5 lwb 2.5DI transit van 'Smiley shape'

Postby philipmorrismusic » Fri Jun 25, 2010 7:08 pm

I sold my swb smiley transit and got a long wheel bass.I find it sluggish and struggling going up hills. So i checked to see if the leak off pipe mod has been done and it had.So then i thought it maybe the injector pump.So i am thinking it maybe work having a look inside.I chatted to a mechanic and he said the 4 screws on the top are removed whilst keeping my hand on the cover for the pump.he said i should see whether or not the piston is worn,if so i can replace it and this could rectify the loss of power problems.

I just wondered if anyone has done this or any suggestions they may have.As i only bought the van for £1000's i think it's a joke to spend £500 to £1000 on a new or reconditioned pump.

Have a search for "torque sleave", that is what the mechanic is on about.
