Problem with new mk6

Postby Grovesy » Thu Jul 15, 2010 12:38 pm

Hi guys,

I have just won a mk6 swb on eGay for a good price and in the add it says it drives but it runs slow.

On speaking to the guy he says he has been using it for a few months how it is, but it just feels pretty gutless. It will still get up to 60-70 but gets there slowly, and aparently feels as if it wont rev very high. He says there is no wierd noises or any smoke so surely it cant be the turbo? Oh, also he says if you leave it for a few days without starting it you have to pump the throttle a few times before it will start. Maybe fuel pump? He said somebody ran it out of diesel just before this started to happen.

I was just wondering if any of you have had or know what this problem could be?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Jamie

Its a 52 plate SWB T280 100ps, with 208,000 miles.

I know the milage is high, im aware of that. But, it HAS got full service history, and had a £700 service in may this year.

I am picking it up on saturday so i will know more then. I will go through the service history and see what is has had regarding the service in may etc.

Just thought id ask (as i will need to get it sorted asap) To see if anyone else has had a similar problem or knows of anything like this.

Cheers. :D

Really... spent 700 quid on a service but didn't bother to find out why it was down on power... Ah... the power of ebay!

first off seeing as its ran out od diesel, change fuel filter(get a genuine one),and as its done 200,000,blank egr if i aint been done, take inlet manifold off give it a good clean out,and clean as much out of ports as you can,if egr hasnt been blank this will be all gummed up, see how it goes and let us no how you get on

Is there a guide on here on how to blank off the egr valve?

And yes, thats the one in the link by the way.
